BACKGROUND
1985 Roland released the OctaPad that had 8 pads. They had 8 velocity levels. It was later replaced with Pad 80 1988. 1990 roland released SPD-8 that had better pads and built in sounds that the earlier models didn't had.
DESCRIPTION
Roland SPD-8 is:
-
A Midi Controller with 8 velocity sensitivity pads. Each pad sends on optional MIDI-note number, so it's easy to control other modules from the pads. MIDI, velocity curves and other parameters can be programmed for each pad.
- A Drum sound Module with over 100 sounds - kicks, snare drums, toms, cymbals, effects and tuned percussion (for instance steel-pan). The sound can be edited with pitch, decay, sustain, pan etc.
- Trig Input for a pedal. A sustain pedal can be used.
SPD-8 is a compact electronic drum kit, and is a good tool for programming drum sequences
As optional was a special stand.
