BACKGROUND
During the 80s it became popular with remote keyboards for keyboard players, and especial since midi came (Prophet 600 was the first Midi equipped product, released in December 1982). The most popular Midi Remote Controllers during the 80s was Yamaha KX1, Yamaha KX5, Korg RK-10, Roland Axis-1 and later on it's successor Roland AX-1
DESCRIPTION
AX-1 is a nice looking, red, lightweight remote-keyboard ("belly-synth") that allows the keyboard player to move around, such a guitar player. AX-1 is equipped with:
- 45 velocity sensitivity keys (without aftertouch). Keys: SK-4
- 31 functions buttons

Ribbon-controller (position and pressure) for pitch. Button for modulation and sustain, controlled by left hand, on the neck of the instrument.

Two zones keyboard - 3 key modes (single, split, or layer)

32 programmable patches, with GS edit possibilities.

HOW TO PROGRAM THE AX-1
- Press PATCH to turn off the patch mode
- Press PROGRAM CHANGE
- Enter the number of the sound you want (i.e. 51)
- Press ENTER
- The AX-1 will now be playing this sound
To put it into a preset patch number, Press and hold the WRITE button and press the Patch number you want this sound in. If you want/don't want Reverb and/or Chorus after you have done this turn them on or off and then press WRITE and the Patch number again
